Theft of Motor Vehicle

Dear Resident

A theft of motor vehicle was attempted on Lawn Lane, Hemel Hempstead, between 01:41 and 01:47 of 29/12/2025.

Between the material times, 2 offenders have attempted to break the lock of a parked red BMW motorbike in the area using an angle grinder. The owner was able to fend off these offenders, before they made off on a moped towards Frogmore End. They are believed to be wearing dark clothing, but details are currently limited.

Tips to prevent vehicle crime:

Ensure you lock doors and shut windows/sunroof when leaving your vehicle unattended.

Always remove keys from the ignition when you are not with the vehicle

When parking, remember to set your immobiliser or alarm or use an approved steering lock or gear lever clamp.

Never leave valuables in your vehicle – not even in the glove box or boot – and keep all possessions out of sight – even coats, sunglasses and carrier bags.

Be aware of your keys. Don’t leave them visible on a windowsill or near to your front door, where they could be “hooked” through the letterbox or a keyless signal can be received by relay devices.

If you have a keyless entry car use a signal blocking bag and consider using additional trackers, steering wheel locks or ghost immobilisers.

Store car ownership documents at home, not in your car.
